82 NARRATOR 2: "I want you to wow us By picking some princes to serve in my palace." NARRATOR 1: The honcho went out and as quick as can be, He searched through the captives until he found three. NARRATOR 2: Then he taught them the ways of the Babylon court Until it was time for the men to report. NARRATOR 1: And it didn't take long they had won such acclaim That all in the kingdom were singing their names. ShAdrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Narration after Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.) NARRATOR 1: At first in the kingdom I'm happy to tell— The life of our heroes was going quite well. NARRATOR 2: But as days turned to weeks and the months hurried past, I'm afraid that this period of peace couldn't last. NARRATOR 1: And if you don't know, then it's time that you learned: Every tale that's exciting must have a dark turn; NARRATOR 2: And in order for stories to truly surprise, In the end, complications will have to arise. NARRATOR 1: And so the day came when the King said: NARRATOR 2: "I'm bored, I'm know that I'm loved—but am I adored?" NARRATOR 1: And with that, this conceited and ignorant man Set in motion a most diabolical plan. He said: NARRATOR 2: "I'll build something for people to see A fabulous idol devoted to me." NARRATOR 1: He gave a command and the work was begun, And continued till soon the great statue was done. NARRATOR 2: Now following God is not always smooth sailing. You'll see as we skip to the day of unveiling. NARRATOR 1: For the king was so sure that his plan would amaze, That he gathered a crowd and awaited their praise. For Preview Only
