15 642173-15 SCENE 1 (SETH, KELSEY, ANNIE and RILEY enter with backpacks from diff erent directions and gather at a school bus stop. There is a bench and a bus stop sign. Some are seated on the bench with the others standing around them.) KELSEY: (overly happy) Hey, everybody! Here we are… ready for another amazing week! RILEY: (not excited) Oh yeah. Ready or not, here we come. SETH: You do know we're going to school, right? ANNIE: Of course, silly. We are here at the bus stop. KELSEY: Oh, come on, Seth, this is going to be a GREAT day! SETH: (still looking sleepy, yawns) You are WAY too happy for a Monday morning. KELSEY: I love Mondays—the start of a new week with new adventures! SETH: Adventure? I don't think so. This is just another Monday. (KRIS enters, running.) ALL: (ad lib) Hey! You made it! Late again, Kris?! Yo, Kris! … KRIS: Thank goodness you're all still here! I overslept! RILEY: (looks at his watch) I wonder why the bus is running late. KELSEY: Oh, I hope I'm not late for class! ANNIE: I don't care about being late for class, but I did want to see my friends before class starts. KRIS: Well, I'm glad the bus is late. Otherwise, I would be in big trouble for missing it! So, what's up with the sign? ANNIE: What do you mean? KRIS: I mean that envelope stuck to the bus stop sign. (KIDS look at the sign. They see an envelope with the word MISSION on it.) KELSEY: (confused, then surprised) What? Wow, I didn't even see that there! RILEY: Me either! How did we miss that? I wonder what it is. SETH: I don't know, but let's open it! ANNIE: Wait a minute. That might not be for us. KRIS: Well, who else would it be for? We're the ones here every day. ANNIE: I know, but it does seem strange, doesn't it? I mean why would someone want US to know about a mission? KELSEY: (excited) I told you today was going to be fi lled with adventure! Let's open it! For Preview Only
