For Preview Only 8 NEW KID (cont.) CHOIR: It's hard to be the new kid in a new place: Everyone is rushing; it feels like a race! You try to keep a brave smile on your face, But everyone is staring at you! It's hard to be new! ("BULLIES" approach MORRIS with his book. "BULLIES" look different/intimidating, but but they are humorous and completely non-threatening.) "BULLY" 1: Hey kid, you drop something? (They attempt to hand MORRIS book.) MORRIS: "BULLY" 1: Did you ask for his lunch money? "BULLY" 2: Of course not! "BULLIES": (shrugging, amused) New kid! CHOIR: Where do you find your confidence? Where do you find your faith? Who is the friend who seeks you, treasures you, Welcomes you home When you have lost your way? It's hard to be the new kid in a new land; There are many things here you don't understand; If you could find your place here, Life would be grand; But everyone is staring at you! It's hard to be new! CHOIR: Who's the new kid? MORRIS: (nervous) I'm the new kid! CHOIR: Everyone is staring at you! It's hard to be new! (Song ends. Pause for applause!) Oh no! Bullies! (closes eyes) I didn't do it! Here's my lunch money!
