We row! FIRST MATE: SAILORS: 48 STORYTELLER 5: And with that, Jonah went down to the ocean and looked for a ship that was about to set sail. (JONAH walks in a large circle downstage as the rest of the CAST changes positions. A CAST MEMBER enters with a sail and stands by the ladder. SAILORS 2-9 sit on the row of boxes with their backs toward stage right and mime holding oars as SAILOR 10 enters with a hand drum and stands stage left. The FIRST MATE climbs part way up the ladder. The rest of the CAST sits on the far left and far right to form a STAGE LEFT GROUP and a STAGE RIGHT GROUP.) FIRST MATE: (as JONAH approaches) Ahoy there, matey. And where might ye be heading? JONAH: (looking left and right) Uh...I'm not sure. (ONE CAST MEMBER runs on carrying a sign that reads "To Nineveh" with an arrow pointing stage left. The CAST MEMBER stops near JONAH and JONAH reads the sign.) Oh...that way! (He points stage right.) FIRST MATE: Welcome aboard, then! (to the other sailors) Alright, men! STORYTELLER 6: Yes, Jonah tried to run away from God. STORYTELLER 5: But he forgot one tiny little detail. JONAH: What? ALL: (shouting at JONAH through cupped hands) God is everywhere! (JONAH jumps, startled.) JONAH: Stop doing that! STORYTELLER 6: So it was really silly to try to run away. STORYTELLER 5: As soon as the ship was out to sea, the Lord sent a mighty wind. ALL: (making a wind noise) Oooooooo.... STORYTELLER 6: (to audience) Get ready, everybody. (The SIGNHOLDER enters with the "Storm" sign and stands down center as the STAGE RIGHT GROUP and STAGE LEFT GROUP stand to lead the audience.) STORYTELLER 5: And the wind caused a great—big—storm! (Immediately after the word "storm" the SIGNHOLDER holds up the "Storm" sign.) For Preview Only
