(The SIGNHOLDER lowers the sign.)
STORYTELLER 6: And it stormed!
(Immediately after the word "stormed" the SIGNHOLDER holds up the "Storm" sign.)
STAGE RIGHT (leading audience) Flash! Flash!
GROUP:
STAGE LEFT (leading audience) Boom! Boom!
GROUP:
(The SIGNHOLDER lowers the sign.)
STORYTELLER 5: And just when you thought it had to stop....
STORYTELLER 6: (after a brief pause) ...it stormed some more!
(Immediately after the word "stormed" the SIGNHOLDER holds up the "Storm" sign.)
STAGE RIGHT (leading audience) Flash! Flash!
GROUP:
STAGE LEFT (leading audience) Boom! Boom!
GROUP:
(The SIGNHOLDER lowers the sign.)
STORYTELLER 5: Finally the crew began to wonder if there was someone on the boat who
had done something wrong—and that's what was causing the terrible...
(STORYTELLER 5 pauses briefly as the members of the STAGE RIGHT
GROUP start the "Flash! Flash!" gesture and then stop abruptly without
completing it. At the same time, the SIGNHOLDER starts to lift the "Storm"
sign and balks.) ...weather. (Some audience members should be drawn
into making the movement by mistake, to comic effect.)
STORYTELLER 6: Well, it didn't take the sailors long to figure out who was causing the
problem.
(A GROUP OF SAILORS quickly forms a circle around JONAH.)
SAILORS: (counting around the circle) Eeny, meeny, miny, Jonah!
(The SAILORS point at JONAH and back away to reveal him to audience.)
SAILOR 2: Where do you come from?
SAILOR 3: What are you doing here?
SAILOR 4: Why is this happening to us?
