Recorded by the Brian Setzer Orchestra on the album Varoom, this
high-energy swing tune gives the entire ensemble a workout. The
melody is skillfully traded around between sections of the ensemble,
and there are brief solos for alto saxophone and trumpet. Cool and
confident, this chart combines the classic sounds of the swing era with
a contemporary and colorful vibe! Highly recommended!

Lunacity is a happy shuffle, and you won't be able to listen to it without
tapping your toe and smiling! It opens with a Count Basie-style piano
solo before the ensemble sets up the trombone and tenor sax melody
at the 148 bpm tempo. Solo changes are provided for tenor and bari
saxes along with trombone. An a cappella ensemble section follows the
soloists and sets up a roaring shout section when the rhythm section
returns. Brass ranges: trumpet to written high C, and trombone to G.

144 bpm! With a mysterious air, the effective ensemble passages
are accessible for most bands and the written or ad lib solos will
show off your developing trombone and trumpet soloists while the
band separates them with solid ensemble playing. Also included is
an outstanding sax section soli with brass punches. Mr. Big is nicely

Mr. Moto—Dan Torosian.
Mr. Moto harkens back to the swinging big-band era featuring a Basie-
ish piano melody. The brass take over for the bridge and the saxes
finish out the first chorus. Clever key changes enhance the flavor of
each section and solo changes are provided for trombone and tenor sax.
As in the old days, the chart starts its shout chorus softly with a very
cool sax section riff that is answered and built upon in the brass. The
ensemble builds for one final key change as the lead trumpet brings us
home with a high note, written A and B above the staff, feature. The
trumpet range is to written high C, and the trombone range is to F with
the tempo set at around 168 bpm. Highly recommended!

straight-ahead swing style that is unmistakable! The melody is passed from
the saxes to the trumpets, and then the trombones take over on the bridge.

cappella section highlights the sax section, punctuated by the brass. The
rhythm section brings it back to the bridge and final section of the shout
chorus. The trumpet range is to written C, the trombone range is to F, and
the tempo is set at 164 bpm. Highly recommended!

Originally recorded by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, here's a
classic jazz tune that works great for younger ensembles. Arranged
here in an attractive shuffle funk style, there's nice balance between a
small group flavor and riffs scored for the entire ensemble. Suggested
solos are included for alto sax and trumpet along with chord/scale
sheets in all keys. An all-time favorite in the jazz repertoire, this is
highly recommended!

Teaneck is a superb swing chart on a tune made famous by the
Cannonball Adderley Quintet! At around 150 bpm, this is a well-
written chart in every way, with nice ensemble sections, a sax soli, the
initial melody scored for alto and trumpet, written-out solos for trumpet
and alto, lead trumpet range to written G, and an optional vibraphone
part. Big-band jazz at its best!

Tunnel Traffic—Scott Ninmer.
Scott Ninmer's burning swing/shuffle chart maintains the blues
tradition while mixing in some contemporary harmonies, with
nice shout sections for the entire ensemble, all at around 120 bpm.
Additional features include lots of solo space for written or improvised
trumpet and alto sax solos, a nice groove, and innovative voicings.
There's a cool interlude after the solos by the full ensemble, then to
a big, showy section featuring piano and rhythm section before a soft
section that leads back to the infectious melody. A super chart that is
highly recommended!
