Featuring a melody line that bounces from part to part within the ensemble, this medium tempo, bebop "blues with a bridge" chart keeps the conductor on his toes "herding the cats" in the band. Lots of open solo space with changes provided allows for numerous soloists and an a cappella chorus featuring the horn section. A flag-waving shout chorus leads to a Basie piano ending. The trumpet range is to written high C and the trombone range is to G. At about 188 bpm, this great original is scored for 5 saxes, 5 trumpets, 4 trombones plus bass trombone, and four rhythm. Highly recommended! 10458461 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H Hey Pachuco!arr. Shane Porter. Your students and audiences will love this burning swing tune made famous by Royal Crown Revue. The groove is set up with a drum solo laying down a Sing, Sing, Sing Krupa feel before the band enters. A trumpet with plunger solo leads into a sax soli section. Next, the trumpet section is featured on a soli section before a half-time feel gives the brass a chance to shine. Returning to the original groove, a written solo for tenor sax heightens the excitement. Finally, there's an open drum solo before the band enters and takes it on home. Pure excitement! 10050989 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Hey Pocky Way (Little Big Band)arr. Eric Richards. Originally recorded by the New Orleans funk band, The Meters, Hey Pocky Way is fashioned here by Eric Richards in the style of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. It's a great change-of-pace chart, and a fun style to play in the little big band format. Scored for 6 horns (3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone) plus rhythm section with optional parts included for alto sax, tenor sax and trombone. 10374162 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 n Hidden AgendaDoug Beach. Get your bop on with this straight-ahead swing chart that will be a winner with groups at many levels. While most charts that are based on the chord changes to I Got Rhythm are written for more advanced groups, Hidden Agenda is scored at the medium level. There's a wealth of ensemble work in this chart that includes an extended solo section, a stop-time ensemble interlude, and a full ensemble shout chorus. Perfect for concert or festival! 10515820 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 4 Hollywood and VineJoe Elefante. This original swinger really shows off the full ensemble well! There's a very hip sax section soli at the top followed by some tasty writing for the brass. Then it's back to the saxes strutting their stuff into an interlude transitioning to the solo section. After the solos, things go soft and quiet before the sax section takes over followed by a transition to the full ensemble that roars to the end. Developing bands will shine with Hollywood and Vine! 10607078 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 l HoneybunsDuke Pearson. One of the best examples of early jazz/rock is the title track from Duke Pearson's 1965 album Honeybuns. The chart begins with an irresistible gospel/rock/swing riff in the horns and piano and is followed by an equally catchy melody played by trumpet, tenor saxophone and flute. Harmonically, the melody is based on an extended G blues, with the form lasting for 24 measures as opposed to the traditional 12. On the original recording the only solos are for trumpet and piano, with the saxophones playing the same introductory figure as a background. In this version solo changes are included in each part allowing solos to be added or opened up. This one is very soulful, cute and fun! Instrumentation: flute, ATB saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums and optional guitar. 10607178 Jazz Ensemble Small Band . . 45.00 n How High the MoonMorgan Lewis/arr. Dave Wolpe. Now this is classy! Dave Wolpe puts the trombones out front in this solid swinger, and boy do they sound great carrying the tune! This sits comfortably for bands at the medium level, and three of your bone players get a chance to solo, with suggested solos offered. What a great chart! 2472224 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 n Hurricane SeasonTroy Andrews/arr. John Wasson. From the Trombone Shorty CD Backatown, this tune features the powerful underlying pulse of a New Orleans second line feel along with elements of contemporary rock. There's written or improvised solo space for trumpet. In this exciting chart, the ensemble alternately screams with the full band riffs, then settles into a simmering rhythmic groove. Also included are written bass lines and piano voicings. A real treat to perform and hear! 10490297 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n I Left My Heart in San Franciscoarr. Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones wrote some incredible arrangements on very popular tunes for the Count Basie Orchestra. As recorded on This Time By Basie, Quincy's arrangement of I Left My Heart in San Francisco features great interplay between the ensemble playing the melody, and the piano with written solo fills. With a tempo around 108 bpm, and a relaxed swing feel, there's also short solo space for tenor saxophone, and the ranges are very moderate. This chart is playable by a lot of bands. It's a true classic! Highly recommended! 10368506 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 I Let a Song Go Out of My HeartDuke Ellington/arr. Bill Cunliffe. A fine chart for concert, contest or festival! Highly recommended! 10452140 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 I Mean YouMonk & Hawkins/arr. Mike Tomaro. Mike Tomaro's setting is unique and creative on this Monk classic. Trumpet and tenor share the melody, and solo space is included for trombone and piano with suggested solos included. Highly recommended! 10033678 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 I've Got You Under My SkinCole Porter/arr. Bill Cunliffe. Here's a medium swinger on this iconic Cole Porter standard with an easygoing feel at about 132 bpm. Oh, so nice! 10513917 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 n Impressions (Little Big Band)John Coltrane/ arr. Mike Tomaro. As recorded on the great Basie-Straight Ahead album of 1968 by Count Basie, this swing outing features solid section and full ensemble writing, brass buckets, sax scoops, drum fills, and piano in the solo role. The tempo is not taxing with the quarter equaling 120; however, paying careful attention to dynamics will be especially important. The rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. 2477338 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 Johnny Come LatelyBilly Strayhorn/arr. Erik Morales.
