A 65.00 l Berlin Bei Nacht—Oliver Nelson/ed. Bob Curnow. As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, Berlin Bei Nacht is the fourth movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. Set in an up-tempo fashion, Nelson's forward- thinking 1971 original starts out with an in-your-face swing unison line played by the saxophones and the trumpets, with the trombones and rhythm section providing the undercurrent. It then moves into a half-time Latin feel before settling into a funk/rock blues solo section for trumpet, or as chosen. This exciting and unique arrangement will be a favorite for your band and audiences alike! An optional fifth trombone part is included. 10607205 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .A 50.00 l Heidi—Oliver Nelson/ed. Bob Curnow. As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, Heidi is the third movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. A gorgeous solo feature for alto saxophone throughout, this piece builds from a quiet beginning to a very powerful point with a bolero-type tension as it develops, before it diminishes to a quiet ending. The pro version includes flute doubles, wider brass ranges, and a lengthier solo as in Nelson's recording, while the edited version is in a lower key, has a shorter solo section, and simpler brass ranges making it more playable for both the soloist and the ensemble while still maintaining the integrity of Nelson's beautiful ballad. 10607217 Jazz Ensemble Pro Version . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, Ku-Damm is the first movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. Based on the blues, as so much of Nelson's music was, this bright swing with a waltz feel in 6/4 begins with an aggressive line for woodwind doubles and adds to its intensity with the entrance of the trumpets a short while later. With solo space for alto saxophone, trombone and piano, this lively, moving composition is sure to bring an exciting contrast to any program! An optional fifth trombone part is included. 10607223 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .A 50.00 l Wannsee—Oliver Nelson/ed. Bob Curnow. Wannsee is the second movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. This lovely, beautiful, haunting melody features flute and flugelhorn, as they each have the opportunity to state this captivating theme. Set in a slow 3/4 Latin-ish feel, the lilting groove provides a mesmerizing backdrop for the melody and eventually moves into a standard bossa nova groove in 4/4 for the featured flugelhorn soloist. This chart is professional in its writing yet quite playable due to its moderate ranges, rhythmic simplicity, and attainable tempo. If you're looking for a unique ballad, this is the one! 10607243 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
