ME 45.00 4 Just By Myself—Benny Golson. This chart provides a wonderful backdrop for soloing and allowed Dizzy Gillespie to present a warm side of his playing, seldom seen during his prior recording sessions. Composed by Benny Golson in 1957, Just By Myself is a medium to bright swing chart beginning with the trumpet playing the melody and lead within the ensemble, then soloing. Additional solos are heard by alto and piano with ensemble backgrounds. This is the original version as played on Gillespie's recording and is fun to play and quite accessible for small groups. This is an outstanding performance and learning vehicle! Instrumentation: ATB saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums and optional guitar. 10607170 Combo (Octet) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 l Out of the Past—Benny Golson. This small group chart is a slow swinger and was featured on the 1957 Dizzy Gillespie album The Greatest Trumpet of Them All. It opens with trumpet presenting the melody, then trombone, and back to trumpet. Solo space is offered for tenor, trombone and trumpet, followed by a restatement and development of the head. There's lots to learn from this quiet, mellow chart! Instrumentation: ATB saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums and optional guitar. 10607172 Combo (Octet) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 45.00 l Sea Breeze—arr. Benny Golson. Sea Breeze is an impressionistic chart for small group and is a trumpet feature throughout. Beginning with a rubato introduction, it alternates between rumba and swing styles, and Golson arranged it without solos except for the trumpet feature. As is typical of Golson's writing, there are fresh-sounding harmonies and voicings. This was originally recorded by Dizzy Gillespie on his 1957 album The Greatest Trumpet of Them All. Instrumentation: ATB saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums and optional guitar. 10607174 Combo (Octet) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 AUTHENTIC BENNY GOLSON OCTET CHARTS In 1957 Dizzy Gillespie recorded the album The Greatest Trumpet of Them All.
