Paul Baker. Check out this hip- hop setting by Paul Baker on the famous TV theme. Unique, but very appealing, it's loaded with wonderful writing, great development, written or improvised solos for trumpet, tenor sax, and drums, a hip sax soli, and the lead trumpet range is only to written G on top of the staff. This outstanding chart is also playable with optional expanded instrumentations. This arranger does this style extremely well and this one is no exception. Highly recommended! 10593761 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 The In Crowd—arr. Peter Blair. You'll recognize this tune for sure as a hit by the great jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis. It's a groovy boogaloo chart played at 140 bpm with a lead trumpet range to written G on top of the staff, and written solos are provided for all four trumpets as chosen. The changes are very accessible and will provide an opportunity for some improvisation for developing jazzers. Optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. The In Crowd is a fun and happy chart to play. You'll dig it! 10593773 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 It's All Right with Me—Cole Porter/ arr. Alan Baylock. Here's Alan Baylock's contemporary treatment of this wonderful jazz standard in a half-time funk feel played with the half note equaling about 96 bpm. The lead trumpet range is to written B flat, a suggested written alto sax solo is included, optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations, and the initial melody is stated by trombones and then bounces to each section. Oh yes, Cole Porter and Alan Baylock... big-band writing doesn't get much better than this! Highly recommended! 10593781 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 Jazzin' the World—arr. Victor Lopez. You'll want to play this superb holiday medley featuring Joy to the World; Silent Night; Deck the Halls and Greensleeves for sure! This chart can be performed with each tune played individually or as the full medley in a variety of styles and tempos. The features include a lead trumpet range to written G on top of the staff, an auxiliary percussion part, and optional parts for flute, clarinet, and vibraphone. This arrangement will cover all your holiday needs, plus it will sound great! Highly recommended! 10593769 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 Jordu—Duke Jordon/arr. Mike Story. This chart is a nice way to feature young soloists on a jazz classic. It has been played by all the greats, but this arrangement is very accessible and swingin' with a cool melodic line. The tempo is 138 bpm and brief written-out solos are provided for piano, trumpet, trombone, and tenor sax. Optional parts include flute, clarinet, vibraphone, F horn, baritone horn, and tuba, or it's playable with optional reduced instrumentation. This rocker recorded by the Foo Fighters has remained a favorite ever since its release in 1999. John Berry expertly trades the melody around from section to section in this great-sounding chart for young players that requires no solos. Also, it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. 10617920 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 40.00 Let the Good Times Roll—arr. Paul Murtha. Patterned after the familiar version recorded by Ray Charles, this effective swing chart for younger players opens with a hard-hitting introduction followed by a sultry solo trumpet on the stop-time verse. There are written or improvised solo spots for alto sax and trumpet, along with terrific ensemble scoring throughout. This classic is also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Paul Murtha's chart updates an iconic tune with a contemporary flare! Highly recommended! 10556786 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 40.00 Minnesalsa—Ethan Freier. Heating up the north woods, Minnesalsa is in a very authentic yet playable salsa groove. It's harmonically interesting, tuneful and includes clearly notated rhythm section parts that help students be successful playing this style. This easy-level chart is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, has moderate ranges, notated rhythm section parts, and an open solo section with suggested or improvised solos. E 48.00 Now's the Time—Charlie Parker/ arr. Paul Murtha. From bebop innovator Charlie Parker, Now's the Time is one of his more accessible and popular tunes. With limited ranges and easy rhythms, this enjoyable arrangement for young players allows you to teach a bit of jazz history in addition to having a great-sounding performance piece. This superior arrangement on bebop classic is also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Highly recommended! 10617928 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . VE 40.00 One Mint Julep—arr. Mike Kamuf. Ray Charles made this one a classic, and now your developing jazz band can too! It's a soulful and funky cha-cha played at the perfect tempo of 120 bpm. Arranged at the medium-easy grade level, this chart has it all: a great groove, accessible ranges, nice ensemble voicings, written alto and trumpet solos, expanded instrumentation options, and it's all very playable by your jazz band. Highly recommended! 10593767 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 Porto Garibaldi—Gregory Yasinitsky. Written for younger jazz bands, Porto Garibaldi is a fun Bossa Nova with a catchy melody. The smooth melodies and Latin flavor help make this appealing to players and audiences alike. The melody is skillfully traded from section to section and no solos are required. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, this is highly effective, accessible, and not to be missed! 10617914 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . This fast samba chart for developing groups offers a smooth groove throughout with the half-note equaling 100 bpm, and includes a written or improvised solo for trombone. Terry White. Here's a great-sounding, slow blues from master pianist and composer Red Garland. It's a terrific piece for young soloists, as well as a good style study for the entire ensemble. E 40.00 Reunion Blues—Milt Jackson/ arr. Rick Stitzel. Reunion Blues is the title track from the famous 1971 album featuring Milt Jackson and Oscar Peterson, but over the years it has been recorded by countless jazz artists. Set in a moderate straight-eighth groove, this riff-based blues tune is perfect for younger players. The saxes are featured the first time through with answers provided by the brass. The written solo section can be performed either as a trumpet section or by a single player. An easy ensemble tutti rounds things out in this attractive and well-written chart. VE 40.00 Rhythm Is Gonna Get You—Estefan & Garcia/arr. Victor Lopez. Here's Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine's hot and very exciting Latin rock chart! This groove is loaded with tons of energy, plus it has a cool melodic hook that never gives up. There are no solos, two auxiliary percussion parts are included, plus all the usual optional parts for flute, clarinet, and vibes. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff, and the tempo is around 120 bpm. Highly recommended! 10593771 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 Sabor de Cuba (Taste of Cuba)— Victor Lopez. Looking for a hot Latin chart? This Victor Lopez original is very hot indeed. It's an Afro- Cuban show-stopper that's jam-packed with lines that bounce section to section, then a suggested tenor sax solo with backgrounds. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff with an optional high D. There are two auxiliary percussion parts included that really make this chart come alive, plus optional flute and vibraphone parts. You'll want to play this highly recommended chart! 10593777 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 Shuffle on Down—Bruce Pearson. Shuffle on Down roars right from the start and is a perfect opener. The melody uses notes from the blues scale and is passed all around the band. The shout chorus really wails for this grade level. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, it features an easy grade level, moderate ranges, notated rhythm section parts, written or improvised solos for all players, and is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. It's a super chart and a great instructional vehicle. Highly recommended! 10607152 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . E 48.00 Shut Up and Dance—arr. John Berry. Recorded by the American alternative rock band Walk the Moon, this contemporary rock hit features a driving pulse and catchy melodic lines. With the melody traded between the saxes and trumpets, this accessible chart also features plenty of solid, full-ensemble scoring. No solos are required, and a full band statement rounds out this infectious and instantly recognizable song. Teaneck is a superb swing chart on a tune made famous by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet! At around 150 bpm, this is a well-written chart in every way, with nice ensemble sections, a sax soli, the initial melody scored for alto and trumpet, written- out solos for trumpet and alto, lead trumpet range to written G, and an optional vibraphone part.
