Benny Golson composed this octet chart in 1957 and it was featured on the Dizzy Gillespie album The Greatest Trumpet Player of Them All. The features include a bluesy sound, interesting harmonies, varied rhythmic figures and solos for tenor sax, trumpet, and piano with backgrounds. Blues After Dark is quite accessible and fun to play! This Gil Evans arrangement is quite possibly one of the most famous jazz arrangements of all time. It is presented here as recorded, directly from the original manuscript. All solos have been transcribed, although chord changes are included in the event your players wish to improvise. This is not a complicated arrangement and is within reach of most proficient bands. Solos are featured for baritone sax, trumpet, and piano. An alternate B-flat part for the French Horn is included that may be played by Trumpet 2 or Tenor Sax. This laid-back rock version of the traditional Christmas carol God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is great for a holiday concert. All the rhythm section parts are fully notated so your group can create the feel necessary to play this chart with success. The piano player can have fun with the rock organ stop on the digital piano and all the fills can be played as is or ad libbed. There are also suggested solo parts for the solo section. The chart is structured so that it can be played with any 4-, 5- or 6-horn ensemble plus rhythm section. Clair de Lune is a flexible instrumentation combo chart and can be played as a four-, five- or six-horn arrangement. A wide variety of parts are included so the horn section can be mixed and matched to achieve the desired sound. Adequate parts are included so that it can be actually be performed as a big-band chart, or anything in between. Originally composed by Claude Debussy in 1890 for piano, this arrangement is a fresh take on one of the most beautiful and often-heard solo piano pieces.
