33 45943 Welcome, one and all, to our special motel place where animals can talk and walk, and there is a lot of grace. It happened very long ago; so listen to my story how even a stuffy cow came to see the Christmas Glory. [clapping his hooves] Oh pip…pip! Here we are! Here we are! Another day, another dollar as they say. Well, time for roll call. Miss Dovie, Front desk Clerk! Here! Ladybug Lacey, Maid! Here! Cecil R. Caterpillar, Bellhop! Here! [aside to Annie Lamb] Never quite understood why he insists on putting the "R" in his name, but never mind, never mind. Now critters, we have a special visitor today to our motel. Annie Lamb, a reporter from The Bethlehem Chronicle newspaper. Welcome! Thank you, Mr. Major Moo, sir. Oh, my dear, there is no need to complicate my name. It is simply "Major Moo." No more, no less. Thank you, in advance, for getting it right in your newspaper. It's actually papyrus. Paper hasn't been invented yet. So be it, so be it, as you wish! In any event, welcome to the Tiny Bit of Heaven Motel. I'm sure you have a lot of questions; and I think your best introduction is to hear our "Rules of the House." Do it Dovie! Begin every day with a smile. Always go the extra mile. Keep the stable clean and neat. This will make a sweet retreat. Do this, and you'll make us proud; and absolutely no humans are allowed! [as a drill sergeant] I can't hear you! No humans are allowed! [During the "Overture," the CHOIR assembles on risers and the actors take their places. When the "Overture" ends, everyone (including the CHOIR) freezes while MELVIN speaks. After the "Overture," T. MELVIN TURTLE steps to Center Stage and starts the proceedings.] MELVIN: [MELVIN steps back and MAJOR MOO moves to center stage and claps his hooves, calling everyone to attention. Everyone unfreezes. If possible, MAJOR MOO speaks with a British accent.] MAJOR MOO: DOVIE: MAJOR MOO: LACEY: MAJOR MOO: CECIL: MAJOR MOO: ANNIE: MAJOR MOO: ANNIE: MAJOR MOO: [The CHOIR and all animals start clapping in rhythm and MISS DOVIE speaks the rules in rhythm.] DOVIE: MAJOR MOO: DOVIE and ALL: THE NOEL CRITTER MOTEL Overture For Preview Only
