Here's a monster of a swinger that's designed to feature the entire ensemble. In addition to a wonderful riff- based theme and a very satisfying shout chorus, the chart includes section feature spots for saxes, trumpets and trombones, without the rhythm section. Very effective! 2471427 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 10012412 Dual Disc CD/DVD- Swingin' For The Fences . . 19.95 n Count Bubba's RevengeGordon Goodwin. Revenge is very sweet! It's a shuffle swing that builds and builds, and on top of that, it showcases all the sections by trading back and forth, even playing without the rhythm section in the center section. Solo space is provided for tenor, bari, trumpet, trombone, and piano or guitar. Gordon is masterful at creating a chart that exudes energy and excitement, and this one sure delivers. 2701982 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 70.00 10012411 Dual Disc CD/DVD- The Phat Pack . . . . . . . . . . 19.95 l Doodlin'Horace Silver/arr. Ernie Wilkins. Horace Silver's iconic blues received the big-band treatment courtesy of arranger Ernie Wilkins for Dizzy Gillespie's big band in 1956. By and large, the arrangement remains fairly close to Silver's original intentions, especially with the melodic statements. The style is medium, down-home swing that begins with the full ensemble and then goes right into a trumpet solo. The Gillespie band played this with a lot humor, so liberties can be taken with fun, interpretive quotes of the melody, including the baritone sax lick leading into the phrases. What a great chart to hear and play! 10607190 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 Embraceable YouGeorge Gershwin/arr. Darmon Meader. Here's a tasty chart on this Gershwin classic from the Great American Songbook! With a medium swing feel at about 120 bpm, it features optional flugelhorns to add to the rich textures, a written solo provided for tenor sax, and a lead trumpet range to written high C. It will be a pleasure to play this chart! 10452130 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 n Foo Birds of a FeatherReginald Thomas. This bright swinger at about 150 bpm features a melodic head carried by a duet of tenor and trombone, then breaks to a hard swing, and includes a vibrant sax soli. The trumpet and trombones offer section trades and the solo space is for tenor, trumpet, or anyone. Commissioned by the Jazz Division of the Illinois Music Education Association for the 2016 All State Jazz Ensemble, this chart provides a wealth of teaching opportunities. A full ensemble shout with drum fills rounds it out before a return to the head. The combination of a swinging melodic line, ample solo space and outstanding ensemble writing make this a must for any library! 10515794 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 n Give It OneFerguson & Downey/arr. Alan Baylock. You have got to have this spectacular Alan Baylock chart on the Maynard Ferguson and Alan Downey classic! Alan's arrangement is reminiscent of Maynard's version, but in a lower key since the lead trumpet only goes to written D above the staff. The tempo is brisk at about 220 bpm, but it could be played effectively at a slightly slower tempo. Solo space is provided for all four trumpets for flexibility. Truly outstanding, and highly recommended! 10355596 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 l Heavy LegsDuke Pearson. Duke Pearson's Heavy Legs is a surprisingly high-energy entry into his catalog as a composer. The opening ensemble riff is a fairly simple dialogue between the horns and piano and rips right along at about 220 bpm. The introductory material pops up one last time before the melody is over to serve as a send off into the first solo. The melody is restated once the solos are over, followed by a vamp and fade over the theme with the piano filling in the gaps. This is pure fun for a small band! Instrumentation: flute, ATB saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums and optional guitar. 10607176 Jazz Ensemble Small Band . 45.00 n High MaintenanceGordon Goodwin. Here's a swingin' shuffle that offers a hot sax soli, with some great solo lines for the bari, too! It's got plenty of sass and a spunky attitude from beginning to end. It's a natural choice for festival or concert programs. Optional parts for vibes and flute are included. 2473687 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 70.00 10012414 Dual Disc CD/DVD-XXL . . . 19.95 n I Can't Stop Loving Youarr. Quincy Jones. Every jazz fan knows it, loves it and has wished it was in print! And now, this quintessential big-band arrangement is finally available! As recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on their album This Time by Basie: Hits of the 50s & 60s, Quincy Jones' arrangement of I Can't Stop Loving You will bring your audiences to their feet. Beginning with the Count's rubato piano tremolo, this laid-back shuffle chart features in-your-face ensemble writing at its finest. There is short, written-out solo space for trombone and piano, but mostly this chart simply swings its tail off with the entire ensemble from beginning to end! Never has a sad song sounded so happy! Very highly recommended! 10368505 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 H I Got RhythmGeorge Gershwin/arr. Dave Wolpe. Wow! If you have a hot trombone player in your band, you've got to check out this chart! This thing smokes from beginning to end, and it just gets better and better as it unfolds. It's got the classic Gershwin sound, the incredibly skillful writing of Dave Wolpe, and plenty of space for your lead trombone player to strut his or her stuff! The solo trombone part sits at the medium-advanced level. 2474250 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 I Heard the Bells on Christmas Dayarr. Gordon Goodwin. It's a medium-slow swing take on this Johnny Marks standard with a few modulations, outstanding ensemble passages, terrific shout choruses, and solo space for all saxes, trumpet 4 and trombones 1 and 2. Very creative! 10513956 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 70.00 n iBopMark Taylor. We all have our iPhones, iPads, and iPods, and now thanks to Mark Taylor we have iBop! This medium-tempo swinger is bop-ish in attitude and features a catchy riff-based melody stated first by the saxes. Jeff Tyzik. Here is the hot version of this big band standard arranged by Jeff Tyzik as recorded by Doc Severinson and the Tonight Show Band. With a dressed up feel and solos for alto, tenor and trumpet, this timeless classic never sounded so good! 10033665 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 n JeannineDuke Pearson/arr. Mike Dana. A great jazz standard played around 178 bpm, this swing chart features alto sax with a suggested written solo provided, and a drum solo played in between band hits. Written in an up-tempo swing style and featuring the riff-like melody surrounded by full ensemble statements, this well-crafted chart is certain to become a staple in the repertoire for jazz groups. Highly recommended! 10427396 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 H Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!Jule Styne/arr. Gordon Goodwin. In the style of Basie and Hefti, this Gordon Goodwin adaptation of the wonderful holiday classic is set in a medium swing style. Not a drum showcase, but the drummer has plenty of solo space beginning on brushes, then to sticks as the intensity rises. There is a flute part on second alto (can be omitted) and a percussion part for vibes. The optional solo space is for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone, and the lead trumpet range is to written high E. A great sax section soli rounds out this excellent chart. This one is so nice, you'll want to play it year 'round! Highly recommended! 10093207 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 70.00 n The LickSteve Brown. Inspired by a YouTube video collage of jazz soloists playing a common sequence of notes, this piece uses "the lick" in a variety of unison and harmonized permutations. A medium swinger with a jazz intro, it heads right into a sax soli on a nice linear melodic line. The solos are for piano, tenor, or anyone, followed by a big, swinging ensemble feature. The great orchestration and catchy rhythmic figures all but guarantee the band will have as much fun as the audience! 10515812 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 n Love Is Here to StayGeorge Gershwin/arr. Mark Taylor. Set in a medium-tempo Basie-style swing, this chart is a study in effective writing for the entire ensemble. From the small group passages contrasted with full ensemble scoring to the sax soli sections with brass responses, this chart is a gem! Suggested or improvised solos are included for trumpet and tenor sax, along with written bass lines and piano voicings. Gershwin at his finest! Highly recommended! 10522898 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Makin' WhoopeeWalter Donaldson/arr. Dave Wolpe. Bass trombone players can count on one hand the good charts available for their instrument. Well, here is one of the best yet arranged by Dave Wolpe in the style of the great George Roberts. With a medium-swing feel, this showcase will bring out the best in your bass trombone player with no improvisation, just written melody. There is some written or improvised jazz for 2nd trumpet in harmon mute, and the lead trumpet has a unison line to written high E. A nice sax soli is the icing on the cake. An outstanding feature chart! 10071915 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 H Moanin'Charles Mingus/arr. Sy Johnson. This is an awesome Mingus double-time swing chart in the original version as recorded on the Mingus Big Band 93 CD. It kicks off with a hot bari sax intro, features some really tight licks, an extended open solo section, and an infectious bari sax line that drives the whole piece. Serious jazz for serious bands! 2388650 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 Moment's NoticeJohn Coltrane/arr. Alan Baylock. Alan Baylock crafts a great swinger on one of Coltrane's brilliant compositions. Set around 208 bpm, this chart includes solo space for alto and tenor and a lead trumpet range to written high C. A big shout chorus and sax soli complete the package. Outstanding chart! 10452152 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 60.00 n An Open and Shut CasePaul Baker. Gifted composer Paul Baker has crafted a bright swing chart that has it all! It's a bright swinger, has tons of energy, features "blues with a bridge" solos for tenor and trumpet, an eight-bar drum interlude, has a very cool "rhythm out" section after the solos, and an outstanding sax soli. Lots of independent section work lets each part of the ensemble shine. The trumpet range is to written high C. It's an open and shut case, this chart cooks! 10518336 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 n OrnithologyParker & Harris/arr. Greg Yasinitsky. Greg Yasinitsky has set Charlie Parker's great bebop tune to swing at about 172 - 200 bpm. Featuring plenty of excellent sax section solis, brass solis, solo spaces (suggested written solos included) for tenor sax, and piano, this is fine big band swing chart on a great tune. The lead trumpet range goes up to written B-flat above the staff and optional flute and vibraphone parts are included. This is essential jazz repertoire, and this chart is very highly recommended! 10355616 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 l Out of Nowhere (Edited Version)arr. Bill Holman. Bill Holman, well-known for his solo features, originally arranged this iconic tenor saxophone feature, Out of Nowhere, for Bill Perkins and the Stan Kenton Orchestra in the mid 50s. Set as an up-tempo swing chart, tenor saxophone is featured throughout and has lots of solo space to make this tune its own. Combine that with a cookin' rhythm section and great swinging ensemble passages, this chart is really happening! This new Finale edition provides cleaner, more correct parts and is easier to read with better page turns. The edited version is exactly the same as the pro version except it is written for 8 brass instead of 10. The brass ranges are reasonable in both versions with the highest note for trumpet being a written D. 10607231 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 l Parisian ThoroughfareBud Powell/arr. Mark Taylor. Based on the classic version recorded by Clifford Brown, this chart opens with a frantic "traffic jam" effect before settling into a more relaxed, yet up-tempo, swing style. The melody is first stated by a combo of tenor, trumpet, guitar and vibes, and joined later by the saxes and ultimately the entire ensemble. A distinctive tutti spot, minus the rhythm section, helps set up the solo section. Parisian Thoroughfare is a terrific showpiece for every section of the band! 10617876 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 BEST SELLERS Blues and Swing Medium-Advanced Buy with confidence!
