MA 52.00 n FootprintsWayne Shorter/arr. Mike Tomaro. Recorded by Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter's hypnotic minor blues has become a true jazz classic and required literature for jazz musicians. Arranged here using a medium straight-eighth-note groove, this chart makes effective use of all the sections or the ensemble and includes a flexible solo section for any player. Including suggested solos, chord/scale sheets in all keys, written bass lines and piano voicings, this one will be fun to learn, rehearse and perform! 10522918 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 50.00 n Freedom Jazz DanceEddie Harris/arr. Eric Richards. Eric Richards' charts are substantial, but worth the work! Here's Eric's take on Eddie Harris' burnin' jazz classic with a funk groove. The tempo moves along at 208 bpm and the lead trumpet range is to written C above the staff. Solo space is provided for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone and guitar. Great tune and an excellent chart! In the spirit of Frank Mantooth and Ashley Alexander, this funk chart provides each section of the band with exciting and distinctive roles that come together and meld into a funky, backbeat groove with a nod to the jazz/ rock fusion era. The feel is half-time, funk/hip-hop with swing eighth notes, it has a great melody that cooks within every section, and includes nice contrast with a trumpet soli before returning to the melody. Written for advancing groups, it includes a written or improvised alto saxophone solo, an optional vibes part, and a guitar chord chart. Pure fun and excitement! 10568022 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 52.00 Get in LineGordon Goodwin. Gordon Goodwin is one of the hottest writers on the big band scene today. His Big Phat Band is modern, hip, exciting, fresh and captivating to see and hear. This chart is the real thing as performed and recorded by the Big Phat Band. There are solos available for alto, tenor, trumpet and trombone and a percussion part is included along with an optional vibe part. On this one, Gordon even included optional flute and clarinet parts if you want to expand the ensemble. Although challenging, Get In Line is not quite as difficult as many of Gordon's fabulous charts. Excellent writing! 2480802 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 70.00 10012411 Dual Disc CD/DVD- The Phat Pack . . . . . . . . . . 19.95 n Give It OneFerguson & Downey/arr. Chris Sharp. Close to the original, but somewhat simplified, this burning rocker from the Maynard Ferguson library really sizzles with a driving intensity! The lead trumpet goes up to high D with a couple high E's thrown in for your aspiring high note specialist. It also includes a nice chorus for a written or improvised alto sax solo and some very cool trumpet section solis. 10456824 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 65.00 n Groove MerchantJerome Richardson/arr. Thad Jones. Listed in Teaching Music through Performance in Jazz and recorded by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra on their Central Park North album, this great collaboration between Jerome Richardson and Thad Jones has become an established standard for better bands. It's a mighty swinger with an edgy melody line, contemporary voicings, and lots of section work that's guaranteed to bring an audience to their feet. Changes for the open solo section are provided for soprano or alto saxes, trumpet, trombone, piano and guitar. The rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. 2087823 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 56.00 Here Comes the SunGeorge Harrison/arr. Mike Tomaro. This is probably George Harrison's most famous contribution to the illustrious catalog of recordings by The Beatles! Mike Tomaro maintains the general flavor of the distinctive original and takes the opportunity to dress it up a bit for jazz ensemble. A classy new shine on a familiar gem! 10461348 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 50.00 H Hit the Ground RunningGordon Goodwin. It's funky with all the Big Phat Band attributes and it's fairly tough to play, but hey, it's Gordon and you know it will be a hot chart if you have the horses! The opening lick for piano is really hot and the rhythm section will stay busy and includes an auxiliary percussion part. There's also solo space for alto, tenor, bari sax, trumpet and trombone. Open with this chart and you will definitely get their attention! 10071930 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 70.00 10058872 CD-Act Your Age with Bonus DVD . . . . . . . . . 15.98 4 HopscotchJoe Schaefer. Hot and energetic, Hopscotch is a funk/hip-hop original with swing eighth notes. The solos can be opened up, and a suggested solo and chord changes are included in the alto 1 part. The solo section is readily accessible for developing soloists with only one chord over a blues scale. This chart features great ensemble writing, cookin' sectionals, and it really starts to groove after the solos all the way to the end. Hopscotch is well written, exciting and highly recommended! 10607096 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 48.00 4 Hot Rockin'Mike Carubia. Here's a straight- ahead rock original that's full of energy and drive! With solid ensemble writing and kickin' backgrounds behind the soloists, it shouts! The optional open solo section is over only two chords, concert G7 and C7, and suggested solos and chord changes are included in the alto 1 and trumpet 2 parts. After the solos a drum solo leads back to a restatement of the main theme. Hot Rockin' is not just your ordinary rock chart! 10607098 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 48.00 4 Hunk o' FunkCarl Strommen. This great Carl Strommen original is a slow funk chart with a double-time feel at around 92 bpm. With tons of attitude, it features lots of dialogue between the saxes and brass, powerful ensembles, and optional open solos with written solos and chord changes in the tenor 1 and trumpet 2 parts. The solos are over only two chords and can use blues scales. Hunk o' Funk is very exciting and highly recommended! 10607100 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 48.00 H Hunting WabbitsGordon Goodwin. Gordon Goodwin's tongue-in-cheek tribute to cartoons is stellar! The mixing of "legitimate" and swing styles makes this chart a showstopper. Soprano sax leads the saxes throughout, and some feisty unaccompanied sections will keep everyone on the edge of their seats. There's solo space for soprano, tenor, trumpet and trombone, along with percussion parts and an optional synthesizer part for the piano player. 2701978 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . Here's Gordon Goodwin's slow, funky version of the holiday classic that's very clever with the initial melody line played by bass trombone and bari sax. The tempo is 110 bpm, it has soprano sax lead, and solo space for all saxes, trumpet 4, and trombones 1 and 2. The lead trumpet range is up to high A-flat. Very cool chart! 10513954 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 70.00 l Modern PecknologyKris Berg. Here's another of Kris Berg's highly successful and funky "chicken" charts! A clever title means a clever chart - this one opens with the sound of the barnyard and then it gets funky immediately with a very cool bass part. The tempo is around 110 bpm with the lead trumpet range to written B above the staff. A suggested written tenor solo is provided along with chord changes for trombone 1, and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. Modern Pecknology has a great groove that settles in and stays funky all the way home! 10593783 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 52.00 l No Chance of LosingErik Sherburne. Erik Sherburne has crafted a "determined rock" chart played at 132 bpm with lots of call-and-response writing and limited brass ranges. Including plenty of unison lines and interesting rhythms, No Chance of Losing is very energetic, has blues changes for the soloists, and includes great use of contemporary rhythms.
